Barbara Barna's expertise in interview skills is rooted in the mother of all interview forms: television. As a television casting guru, Barbara has a track record for recognizing new and emerging talent, casting a wide net in her searches to include genres such as television, radio, print/online media, comedy, animation, off-Broadway, food, fashion, interior design, sports, music and film. All of these genres and disciplines came together in her work casting Queer Eye For The Straight Guy. Clients include broadcast and cable networks and production companies such as Brillstein Grey, Scout, Bravo/NBC, the WB, Discovery Networks, SpikeTV, amc, WE and Lifetime.

Prior to launching her own casting firm, Barbara was the Director of Talent Development at VH1. Among the many projects she was responsible for at VH1, Barbara cast channel and show hosts, many unknown at the time, including Jeff Probst (Survivor/CBS) on Rock and Roll Jeopardy and Wayne Brady (The Wayne Brady Show/ABC) on Vinyl Justice. She also helped create The RuPaul Show and Sex, Lives and Videoclips with Candace Bushnell (while the author was still actively writing her acclaimed Sex and the City column for The New York Observer), and was an original talent executive on the VH1 Fashion Awards.

Barbara started in the business more than 20 years ago as music director of her college radio station (KSPC, Claremont, CA), and making tea for powerhouse 80s musical acts like Culture Club and Human League as the first college intern for Virgin Records UK. She then joined Front Line Management as a junior publicist reporting to Andy Slater (now Capitol Records president) working with such clients as Don Henley, Stevie Nicks, Warren Zevon, and the Go-Gos. Barbara gained her comedy chops in the personal-appearance department of APA in Los Angeles, initially working the phones for the legendary and visionary Marty Klein. Her backgrounds in music and talent converged at VH1, where she held a variety of production, development, and talent positions during her decade-long tenure there.
