Onome Djere is a
poet, performance artist and vocalist whose work has been published in several
anthologies such as Brave New Voices and Signifyin' Harlem. Over
the past seven years, she has conducted hundreds of youth and adult workshops
focusing on poetic craft, story-telling and performance technique. She was a
participant in such writing programs such as Cave Canem, LouderArts, The Griot
Space, and Voices of Our Nation Arts Foundation.
Onome has been working on her soon-to-be-published first collection of poetry,
Drapetomania. She is also editing A Place Called There, the much
anticipated book of poems by Ola Jendai. She has a degree in Liberal Arts from
Sarah Lawrence College.
